Who Can Join?
The Junior Corps is open to students between the ages of 16 and 18 who attend school or reside within the Village of Dobbs Ferry. Members of the Junior Corps must obtain a CPR certification and pass an OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens course, both of which are provided in house. After completion of the requirements, Juniors are familiarized with our operations from the ambulances layouts to equipment to our dispatching protocols. They are then able to ride along on 911 calls to assist the crewmembers and gain insight into the world of EMS.
Why Do Students Join?
The Junior Corps provides High Schoolers with an insight into emergency medicine and the healthcare field while being able to log community service hours. Our members are able to develop interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills to prepare them for any future career path. Past members have gone to become career EMTs, Police Officers, Medical Students, Accountants, and many other careers!
